Kids Nutrition
Are you worried about what your children eat and how it will affect their growing bodies? We try to get our kids to eat the best food possible, but with ads for junk food on TV and a fast food place that entices them with toys on every corner, it isn’t always easy to convince your little ones to pass on those un-healthy foods and stick with some carrots or a whole wheat sandwich instead.
Your child’s nutrition has a big impact in how healthy he or she will be as an adult. As a parent it is your responsibly to establish healthy eating habits in your child early on. A person that grows up eating healthy is more likely to carry those good habits on into adulthood.
Of course this isn’t an easy task. A lot of kids don’t exactly volunteer to eat healthy. You may be able to get them to eat fruit and lean meats like chicken, but getting them interested in veggies is often a whole other story. Here are some tips for children who hate vegetables. Start incorporating a few of them into your cooking and see if you can’t get them interested in eating those healthy foods.
It’s often easiest to get your child to eat broccoli. It has a pretty mild taste, looks like a little tree and goes well with some toppings that almost anything child loves including cheese and tomato sauce. Here are some kid-friendly broccoli recipes and ideas you can try.
One of the best things you can do as a parent is set a good example and keep offering healthy foods to your child. We have a one bite rule in our house… Every family member has to eat at least one bite of every food offered. That way you know you get at least a little bit of good nutritious food in your child, and he or she might just get used to and acquire a taste for those foods that are actually good and healthy.
