Kid-Friendly Broccoli Recipes and Ideas

It is no big secret that kids do not like to eat their vegetables. Actually, it is somewhat of a given, you would almost have to sit on your child screaming in order to get them to eat broccoli or really any other type of vegetables. However, we are here to help out. We are going to show you some sure fire ways that you can get your kids to eat their broccoli and even enjoy it. Do not think this is possible? Let us find out.

Tip #1 – Make it an addition

If your child really refuses to try broccoli, try adding it to something you know that they like already. Broccoli is a pretty bland food already, if you add it to something else, you are much more likely to receive a good reception than you would if you just sat broccoli in front of their face and said eat it.

Mac & Cheese Please

Cheese and broccoli simply go together well, in fact that is how my mom got me to eat my broccoli. Therefore, why not consider adding the broccoli to almost every kids' favorite food, Macaroni and Cheese. If you decide to go this route, it is usually a good idea to cut the stalks off the broccoli. The stalks are typically harder to chew. If the cutting isn't something for you, then buy a bag of frozen broccoli florets.

Casseroles

If your child enjoys casseroles, then you should try adding the broccoli into a casserole dish. For example, if you make rice and chicken casserole often, why not add the broccoli to that. If you make noodles and beef casseroles, the broccoli can be mixed with that as well. There is no end to your creativity when it comes to adding broccoli to your child's favorite foods.

Chicken potpie is another good bet for adding veggies. Cold broccoli dipped in some sort of dip such as veggie dip or ranch dressing make great snacks as well. In some cases, many children prefer raw vegetables over cooked. I can't say I blame them, I am the type that prefers raw carrots and will not eat cooked carrots. It is simply the matter of texture and taste to your child. Believe it or not, texture makes a big difference to your child. If it feels funny in their mouth, they likely will have no desire to eat the food.

To really get your child to eat his or her broccoli, you need to get creative and use your imagination. There are few foods that you could not add broccoli too, so get started, you want your kids to eat healthier, so give them the means to do so.
