For some people, worrying about the
environment is something that they have
always done, while for others, its something
that they only become concerned about as
they get older and have a better view of the
way that things work. In any case, you may
be surprised by all the ways in which you
can incorporate environmentally healthy
options into your every day life. One great
example of integrating wise environmental
options into your home is to find out what
you can regarding eco-friendly dinnerware.
Even your plates and utensils can be
eco-friendly, and no matter what you decide,
you should be aware that there are many
options open to you.
One way to make sure that your dinnerware is
eco-friendly is to take a look at where it
comes from, or perhaps more specifically,
where it has been! Many different brands and
designers are taking it upon themselves to
use recycled materials, and you'll find that
there are quite a few to choose from. You'll
find that there are many place settings that
are made out of recycled glass, and if you
are looking for something tasteful (no pun
intended!) and artistic, you'll find that
many of these dishes have been hand-spun and
hand colored. Moreover, more and more of
these recycled options are both microwave
and dishwasher safe to boot.
While we generally think of eco-friendly in
terms of using things that are made for
constant use, we sometimes run into
situations where we need to think about
using single use dishes and utensils. These
situations, while they are fairly
infrequent, can use up a lot of paper plates
and plastic utensils, but you can still find
a way to make it eco-friendly. Look around
for paper plates made out of recycled paper
products, and if you have a garden, think
about getting compostable dishes. This is a
great way to feed your guests and feed your
garden!
If you can't find recycled paper plates, set
up a bin for recyclables at your next party.
This is a great way to mitigate some of the
waste and to make your party-goers a little
more aware of the possibilities of
eco-friendly materials and options. Set
aside a bin for plastics, one for paper, or
however your recycling divides up, and
you'll find that people start using it with
a minimal amount of prodding.
Take some time to think about how you can
make your dining experience a great deal
more eco-friendly. It's not as hard as you
think, and depending on what options you
get, it can even be quite lovely!
